Yahtzee! is a game full of dice rolling!  There are many 'hands' to roll - 2 of a kind, 3 of a kind, 4 of kind, 5 of a kind, run, full house, etc.

Great for indoor recess or home play!

Adaptations for classroom play, tie content to the different types of roll - have to answer certain types of questions to keep the points.

"World's Greatest Dice Games" Book

This book has many dice games for children and students to play.  This would be great for a classroom or after school club.  There are several games for kids to play. Great for indoor recess or rainy day activities.

Adaptations for classroom use - Classroom content can be tied into different games. Some games use math fact skills and order of operations.

Rory's Story Cubes

I LOVE these! I can't wait to use them in the classroom SOON! I have used them with our son and he loves creating silly stories.   In the classroom I plan to use them for story starters. Players roll the die cubes one at a time to create a story. There are three variations right now - voyages, fairytales, and 'once upon a time'.  I found them at Target!

Skip Bo

Skip Bo is played as follows. Roll the dice and place them on the numbers (matching the colors). Do this until you do not roll numbers needed. You must place them on the board IN ORDER. You can't place any rolled die cubes anywhere on the board.  You can also opt to stop whenever you want.  The goal is to get to 50 points. HOWEVER, if you roll and can't place ANY die cubes..... you lose ALL OF THE POINTS collected so far in that round!

To adapt this to the classroom, I would tie in content to the numbers - where students would have to answer questions to keep the points, similar to Trivia Pursuit.

Shut the Box

"Shut the box" is played as follows. A player rolls the die cubes.  Any numbers that add up to that number are 'shut' (i.e. flipped). Example, roll and "8" and flip 6 and 2, 1 and 7, 3 and 5, and 4.  If any aren't available, your turn is over and you add up the number flipped. Do this until you can't flip a number.  Whatever numbers are LEFT unflipped is your score. The lowest score per round is the winner.   If you happen to flip them all, YOU WIN!

Great for home play and indoor recess!

Set Cubed

Set Cubed is the game "Set" in cube form. However, you place your set of three cubes on a board, and other players build upon your set, similar to Scrabble.  Great for home play or indoor recess time!

Monster Math

"Monster Math" is a dice game book I found at a yard sale. I haven't found a copy online at the time I looked. It is a great book full of number games.  If you find a copy, pick it up.  It's great for math class time fillers, enrichment, after-school math clubs and for home use.
